What affects the value of an antique comic book
Value rarely comes down to age alone. A book from the 1970s can outsell one from the 1940s, and two copies of the same issue can be worth very different sums. Our team weighs several factors together rather than leaning on any single one.
Era, title and key issue
Golden, Silver, and Bronze Age books each sit in their own market, and within a title the issues that carry a first appearance, an origin story, or a major event command the most attention. A key issue and a common issue from the same run can differ enormously in value.
Grade, page quality and restoration
Condition drives price steeply for comics. Spine stress, corner wear, tears, and how white the pages remain all matter, and professional grades are read against them. Restoration or a married cover, once disclosed, moves a book into a different bracket than an unrestored copy.
Comparable sales

Why the same title can be worth $20 or $20,000

How old does something have to be to be an antique?
As a rule of thumb, an antique is generally at least 100 years old. Items roughly 20–99 years old are usually called “vintage,” and the line shifts by category — but age alone never sets value. A 60-year-old designer piece can be worth far more than a century-old everyday object.
What affects the value of my item?
Value comes from a combination of factors: who made it, its age and rarity, condition, originality, provenance (its documented history), and — most of all — what comparable pieces have actually sold for recently. Our research weighs each of these to produce an estimated range.
